Shamil Translation provided Arabic–French simultaneous interpretation support for the ROR Simulation Workshop held at Sofitel Riyadh Hotel & Convention Centre from 19 to 21 January 2026.
The three-day workshop required real-time language support to help Arabic- and French-speaking participants follow presentations, discussions and simulation activities without interrupting the programme.
Project Requirements
Workshop interpretation requires the interpreter to follow both prepared presentations and interactive discussions.
The assignment involved communicating specialised information clearly while keeping pace with speakers and maintaining consistent terminology across the three-day programme.
Because the workshop included simulation-based activities, the interpretation also needed to support instructions, participant questions and live exchanges between the facilitators and attendees.
Main Challenges
Interactive Workshop Format
Unlike a standard conference presentation, workshops often include questions, exercises and discussions involving several participants.
The interpreters needed to respond quickly as the programme moved between presentations and interactive sessions.
Specialised Terminology
The workshop involved subject-specific concepts and terminology that needed to be communicated accurately between Arabic and French.
Multiday Consistency
The programme took place over three consecutive days. Consistent terminology was therefore important, particularly when later sessions referred to topics introduced earlier.
