Overview
Shamil Translation supported MENOG22, the Middle East Network Operators Group Meeting & Peering Forum, held at The Art Hotel & Resort in Amwaj, Bahrain.
The event required real-time communication between English- and Arabic-speaking participants. Our scope included two professional interpreters, one interpretation booth, 50 headsets with wireless receivers and the installation of the required equipment at the venue.
The service was delivered on 7 and 8 December 2022, from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM each day.
Project Requirements
The organisers required interpretation in both directions:
- English into Arabic
- Arabic into English
Because the programme included presentations and discussions, the interpretation needed to be delivered without interrupting the speakers or delaying the event schedule.
Participants requiring language support listened through individual headsets, while the interpreters worked from a dedicated booth.
The assignment also required the equipment to be installed and prepared before the sessions began.
Main Challenges
Technical Subject Matter
MENOG22 brought together professionals working in areas related to Internet infrastructure, network operations and peering.
The interpreters needed to follow specialist discussions and communicate technical information clearly while keeping pace with the speakers.
Long Event Schedule
The programme ran for 9.5 hours per day over two consecutive days.
Simultaneous interpreting requires sustained concentration, so two interpreters were assigned to work as a team and alternate throughout the sessions.
Equipment Coordination
The interpretation booth, headsets and receivers needed to be installed and checked at the venue before the event.
Reliable audio transmission was essential so that participants could follow the interpreted content clearly from different areas of the conference room.
Our Services
Shamil Translation provided the linguistic and technical support required for the event.
The project included:
- Two professional English–Arabic interpreters
- Interpretation in both language directions
- One professional interpretation booth
- 50 wireless receivers
- 50 participant headsets
- Equipment delivery and installation
- Audio and equipment testing before the event
The interpreters worked from the booth and delivered the translated content through the designated language channel.
Participants using the receivers could listen to the interpretation without interrupting the main presentations or discussions.
Project Delivery
The complete setup was prepared at The Art Hotel & Resort before the event sessions began.
Over the two-day programme, the interpreters supported presentations and discussions in English and Arabic. The two-interpreter arrangement helped maintain consistency and concentration throughout the extended schedule.
The project covered:
- Two event days
- 19 total service hours
- Two interpreters
- Two language directions
- One interpretation booth
- 50 headset and receiver sets
- One complete equipment installation
Outcome
The interpretation arrangement allowed English- and Arabic-speaking participants to follow the MENOG22 programme in real time.
Speakers could continue their presentations without pausing for translation, while participants requiring interpretation received the translated content through their wireless headsets.
By coordinating the interpreters and equipment as one project, Shamil Translation helped ensure that the language support remained organised throughout the event.
This assignment demonstrates our experience supporting conferences and technical forums that require professional interpreters together with suitable audio equipment.
